摘要

Autonomous cars often have video cameras and sensors to see and interpret the objects on the road, just like human drivers do with their eyes. These image sensors can automatically detect objects such as other cars, pedestrians, traffic signs and signals, road markings, etc. Snow contamination can prevent cameras from identifying objects. The current study focuses on predicting snow contamination regions on a wedge-like bluff body. The snow contamination regions are plotted as wall shear stress and frictional velocity contours. The results are validated with the help of images obtained from the wind tunnel experiments. The lower values of wall shear stress and frictional velocity are found to predict contamination, similar to experiments. The effect of wedge size, wedge slant angles, flow velocities, and the impact of roughness on the front surface of wedge is also studied with the help of skin friction coefficient.
