摘要

We investigate the characteristics of steady, laminar convective flow structures and heat transfer within a square enclosure (of length L) containing two anti-symmetrically heated cylinders (D=0.08L). The non-dimensional temperature of the enclosure wall remains constant at θ = 0. In contrast, the non-dimensional temperatures of the upper and lower cylinders have opposite signs θUC = −θLC. The cylinders are placed along the vertical centre line with the cold cylinder located at (0, 0.1L) and the hot cylinder at (0, -0.1L). The study aims to explore the natural convective flow patterns and the crucial role of the Prandtl number (Pr) in determining the convective flow behaviour. We vary the Prandtl number (Pr) ranging from 0.01 to 1 by adjusting the thermal conductivity of the working fluid. Numerical simulations employ second-order-accurate schemes for discretized conservation equations in a two-dimensional domain. Our simulations yield two peculiar flow patterns specific to the present natural convection. The results indicate that the average Nusselt number increases with a fall in Pr. These findings contribute to understanding convective heat and fluid flow introduced by a pair of anti-symmetric heating cylinders within an enclosure.
