摘要

The current numerical simulation provides a qualitative comparison to experimental results. Experiment was conducted with diesel fuel under circular pan positioned at centre of the compartment [1]. The details of fuel pan made of mild steel material with 0.003 m sheet thickness has diameter 0.8 m and lip height 0.12 m. Full door open fire test is simulated using Fire Dynamic Simulator (FDS) developed by NIST, USA. Heat Release Rate (HRR) values obtained experimental is used as an input to numerical simulator (FDS). The actual experimental room dimensions (internal) are 4 m × 4 m × 4 m and having 0.27 m wall thickness while in numerical studies; size of computational domain has been kept as 6 m × 6 m × 6 m. Predicted results on temperature are compared with experimental data measured from full-scale burning tests. For most cases, the predicted results agree reasonably well with the experimental data.
