The liquid jet breakup dynamics finds its application in many engineering field such as diesel engines, rocket engines, etc. Very recently the studies related to the dynamics of fluid jet behavior at supercritical conditions were initiated. At critical point, various thermodynamic anomalies such as absence of surface tension, large heat capacity exist. At the supercritical condition with the absence of surface tension there is no distinct interface between the liquid and gas. Most of the experimental work investigated by former researchers used backlit imaging and laser fluorescence technique to interpret the jet structure at high speed condition. In the present work, the jet is injected at room temperature and the chamber is at supercritical temperature with the pressure being varied from sub critical to supercritical conditions. High speed imaging with backlighting is done for visualization of the jet break up and their instability characteristics. The results indicate the different regimes of the fluid jet break up at different chamber conditions.
