MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT FROM RICE HUSK FOR CO2 CAPTURE
摘要
In the study, activated carbon material was prepared from
pyrolyzed rice husk (RH) for the capture of CO2 from simulated flue gas. The measured (Brunauer−Emmett−Teller) BET surface area of the carbon material was around 340 m2/gm. Two amines, namely monoethanol amine (MEA) and ethylene diamine (EDA) were loaded on the carbon support material to prepare the active adsorbent. The CO2 adsorption study was carried with the in-house developed adsorbents using simulated flue gas at 30 °C. Stability of the sorbent was tested by cyclic
regeneration and reuse of the same material for CO2
adsorption. There was no substantial improvement in the CO2 adsorption capacity when piperazine (PZ) was used as promoter for low amine loading on RH but not significant on higher amine loading. The sorbents were studied for 3 cycles and it was observed that sorbent was stable. The highest average adsorption capacity was 48.9 g of CO2/ kg of sorbent for 2.5MEA-PZ-RH sample.
