Abstract

Human thermoregulation models offer valuable insights into the thermoregulatory responses of the human body across diverse environmental conditions. These models serve as crucial tools, particularly in scenarios where conducting physical experiments poses inherent risks. In this study, a comprehensive 2D mathematical thermoregulation model is employed, consisting of a passive system with 12 segments and two sectors comprising 100 nodes each. The model incorporates an active system that controls the passive system by implementing thermoregulatory commands. Validation of the model is conducted by comparing its outcomes with available literature. Subsequently, the model is utilized to predict the temperature profile of the human body during the postmortem state. Furthermore, the model is employed to forecast the temperature distribution in cases involving blood loss resulting from severe injuries. The findings of this study highlight the rectum temperature as a reliable indicator for estimating the time of death. Additionally, it is observed that blood loss from the body tends to prioritize blood flow to the core rather than the periphery. These outcomes contribute to the field of forensic science and enhance the understanding of temperature regulation dynamics in hemorrhage or blood loss scenarios.
