EFFECT OF PERFORATIONS IN DOUBLE TWISTED TAPE INSERTS FITTED IN CYLINDRICAL TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER
Abstract
The current experimental work investigates the augmentation of energy transfer through a cylindrical system as a heat exchanger by using novel Perforated single and Double twisted tapes in co-swirl and counter-swirl (CO/COT) arrangements. The experiments are performed from the range of Reynolds number 10449 - 22,773 for a fixed twist ratio of 2. The Experimental results show that the enhancement in Nusselt number for the counter-swirl (COT) arrangement of twisted tape is greater than the co-swirl (CO) arrangement of twisted tape. The Nusselt number enhancement attains the maximum value of 2.34 for the perforated double twisted tape with counter-swirl arrangement.
