Abstract

The recovery of waste energy represents a fundamental approach to reduce the consumption of energy and the pressure put on the environment. The Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is technically feasible way to thermal energy into useful power, and is an effective way to enhance thermodynamic performance. This is achieved through the use of zeotropic mixture (ZM), which allow for a more consistent temperature response to both heat sources and sinks. So, from the perspective of thermal analysis, this study examines three distinct configuration specifically the Basic Organic Rankine Cycle (BORC), Recuperative Organic Rankine Cycle (RORC) and Regenerative Organic Rankine Cycle (RGORC). The mixture of Toluene/Novec649 at 0.5/0.5 mass fraction is used as a ZM in all the opted configurations. System modelling is done on aspen plus software. As, far as the study is concerned RGORC will produce the maximum work done which is 17.18% and 8.01% more than the BORC and RORC. The maximum efficiency is also given by RGORC which is 18.91% at pressure ratio of 29.81.
