MODELING INTERACTION OF A NON-PREMIXED JET FLAME WITH A STANDING WAVE
Abstract
A numerical investigation has been carried out to study the
interaction of a non-premixed jet diffusion flame with a standing wave produced in a tube. ANSYS FLUENT is used to model
the configuration with acoustic perturbations imposed through
user defined function (UDF). The turbulent flow field is modeled using widely used k−ε turbulence model. Two different combustion models are compared, namely Eddy Dissipation Model (EDM) and Non-premixed Model (NPM). Keeping the fuel injector position fixed, flame excitation with respect to two acoustic forcing frequencies (220Hz and 375Hz) are investigated. The simulations are able to predict the pressure antinodes as well as static pressure along the tube length. It is observed that Eddy Dissipation Model is able to capture the flame dynamics better than non-premixed model.
