要約

Here, we present experimental techniques for the analysis of the velocity field inside a hydrocyclone, using particle image velocimetry (PIV). To this end, we consider a transparent hydrocyclone. Our primary objective is to demonstrate the use of PIV technique for measuring the flow field inside a hydrocyclone. Our hydrocyclone has a length of 700 mm with a cylindrical section at the top (inner diameter 75 mm), followed by a gradual transition to a conical section with a cone angle 10°. The flow field inside a hydrocyclone involves complex multiphase, turbulent flow phenomena. It is rather challenging to uncover this complete flow structure at the same time. Thus, we have employed section-based scavenging of the flow field. Finally, we present the observed results and the corresponding discussion on flow features.
