Two frequency excitation of Faraday waves in a cylindrical container
要約
The objective of present research is to use the two superimposing frequencies to excite vertical direction (Faraday) at the limit of large liquid (n-pentane) depth (d). In this case, considered two frequency values corresponding to (0, 1) and (1, 1) modes to investigate the wave response. When two frequencies are used, the first frequency mode resonates
primarily and the role of second frequency is to alter the point of instability threshold. Two different modes have been
considered, viz. the axisymmetric mode (0, 1) and asymmetric
sloshing mode (1, 1). A numerical model based on the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method using ANSYS Fluent 21R1 is used to track the free surface motion of liquid. The implicit time discretization method is used to solve the volume fraction equation. Following the grid independence and temporal independence studies, numerical study has been carried out. The numerical results illustrate and help to identify the thresholds and amplitude effects for the two frequency excitation of the lowest axisymmetric mode (0, 1) and asymmetric sloshing mode (1, 1) with two frequency excitation.
