要約

Thermally Activated Building System (TABS) is an energy efficient alternative for the conventional mechanical cooling system. In TABS, the chilled water passes through the pipes embedded in the building structures, removes heat from the indoor space and provides thermal comfort. However, the performance of TABS is greatly affected by solar heat penetration, which is directly related to the building material. In order to enhance the performance of TABS, the material that can reduce the solar heat penetration is to be incorporated with TABS. Nowadays, Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum (GFRG) panel is used for low-cost building construction, and it can reduce the solar heat penetration. This study presents a computational fluid dynamic analysis for thermally activated GFRG roof, i.e., GFRG roof incorporated with TABS. The results reveal that the proposed roof reduces the solar heat penetration to indoor significantly and removes 120W/m2 of heat at the bottom surface, i.e., ceiling surface, for the supply water temperature of 16°C.
