One of the major factors affecting boiling heat transfer either in narrow or conventional channel is bubble detachment diameter. Bubbles may have adverse effects on fluid flow and heat transfer patterns. Various models have been proposed to predict the detachment diameter, which are based on constant values of advancing and receding contact angles. In the present model, bubble contact angles are varied with the bubble inclination angle. Proposed model has been validated with the existing literature. Predicted results show good agreement with the experimental results of Klausner et al. [2] with the average variation of ±19.9%. It has been found that with increasing mass flow rate of working fluid, bubble departure diameter decreases. However, with the increase in wall superheat, bubble departure diameter increases. Moreover, during saturated boiling, inlet vapor quality of fluid at inlet also play significant role in bubble growth and detachment.
