Using Hybrid Nanofluid As Secondary Refrigerant In Plate Heat Exchanger For Milk Chilling

An enhancement in the performance of heat exchangers is must to tackle the problem of energy crisis. For this one can opt for better heat exchangers with modulated surfaces and can also enhance the properties of working fluid. In present paper an effort has been made to improve and analyze the performance of heat exchanger by using corrugated type counter flow plate heat exchanger as evaporator and brine based copper hybrid nanofluid as secondary refrigerant for milk chilling application. Different samples of hybrid nanofluid has been analyzed by adding different nanoparticles like alumina, CuO, silica and titania in copper nanoparticles in equal volume and dispersing them in a base fluid containing different brine solutions in water in different ratios maintaining constant freezing temperature. Constant heat transfer rate of 50kW has been provided. Effect of using different brine solutions on different parameters like heat transfer coefficient, heat transfer area, pump work, performance index, second efficiency and non-dimensional exergy have been theoretically analyzed. It has been observed that PG brine based copper hybrid nanofluid performs better in all cases and is most desirable as secondary refrigerant followed by EG brine based copper hybrid nanofluid. In some cases CuO-copper hybrid nanofluid shows better performance while during exergetic analysis silica- copper hybrid nanofluid performs better.
