Condensation of water vapor present in moist air in form of drop occurs when the condensing surface is hydrophobic or
superhydrophobic and the surface temperature is below than
the dew point temperature. This process plays significant role
in enhancing the overall water productivity for water
harvesting via dewing. The aim of study is to enhance the
condensation transport coefficient for efficient water
harvesting in hot, arid and drought prone regions. An
experimental setup is designed and fabricated to carry out the
parametric study of moist air velocity, relative humidity and
degree of sub-cooling on the condensation rate. The results
show that the condensation rate increases with increase in
relative humidity, moist air velocity and degree of sub-cooling. In addition, chemically etched condensing surface further improves the droplet shedding effect during condensation.
