MONTE CARLO METHOD FOR RADIANT HEAT TRANSFER PREDICTION IN ENCLOSURES WITH EMITTING AND ABSORBING MEDIUM
要約
Monte Carlo method in which radiative energy exchange
is modelled as emission and absorption of energy bundles is
successfully used by many researchers to investigate radiation from a cloud of absorbing, emitting, and scattering particles. In the present study, radiative heat transfer within an enclosure containing participating media is modelled using Monte Carlo method. Participating media is considered as a gas with uniform absorption coefficient. A generalized Fortran code is developed using Monte Carlo method for radiation heat transfer. The capability
of code includes the domain discretization, tracking of
photons from each gas and wall element and computation of wall heat flux for given wall emissivities, absorption coefficients, wall and gas temperatures. Based on the inputs, an energy balance is applied for each control volume and wall elements to estimate the wall heat flux levels. The code is validated using a bench mark problem of black enclosure with emitting medium. The code is further used to conduct parametric studies for various input parameters
like wall emissivities, absorption coefficients, etc.
