要約

In this work, the Volume of Fluid (VOF) [1] method is used to study the bubble generation and dynamics in a rectangular domain with single as well as double inlets. The simulation is done by using OpenFOAM-3.0.1 software platform. The conservation equations for mass and momentum which incorporates the influence of surface tension and gravity are solved by using PIMPLE algorithm. The physical model for the simulation process is a 2D rectangular domain with a width of 0.05 m and height of 0.1 m. Numerical computation was performed with multiphase solver interFoam. Modelling of the geometry, segregating the grid system and setting the boundary conditions were done by OpenFOAM software. For the simulation a small time step of the order 0.0001 is considered. The liquid and gas inlet are defined as velocity inlets. Walls are defined as no-slip. The simulation results were compared with available literature results and found out that the bubble formation and dynamics were in good agreement related to the present study. The current work involves the study of bubble dynamics and coalescence behaviour of gas bubbles. The behaviour of gas bubbles emanating from two adjacent orifices under different orifice gas velocities and the effect of transport properties of gas and liquid, orifice size on the bubble formation, growth, and detachments were investigated comprehensively. Mixing behaviour in the bulk liquid due to bubble formation under different inlet gas velocities was also numerically investigated.
