要約

This paper reports the results of an experimental investigation of heat transfer from an internally finned wickless heat pipe charged with methanol, ethanol and binary fluids. The binary fluids used in this study are water-acetone, water-methanol, water-ethanol. A copper tube with a length of 500 mm, outer diameter of 26 mm and a thickness of 3 mm is used as a closed thermosyphon system. The thermosyphon consists of an evaporator section of length 200 mm, an adiabatic section length 100 mm and 200mm long condenser section. Six constant area fins with a rectangular cross section are placed internally along the length at the condenser section. Fins are integral with the condenser and have a length of 200 mm. The width and thickness of the fins are 5 mm and 1 mm respectively. The ratio of initial liquid pool volume to the evaporator volume known as the filling ratio in a thermosyphon system, has been varied in this study. Experiments are carried out for filling ratios of 20, 50, and 80%. The 20 and 80% fill ratio cause under filling and over filling problems respectively. Providing internal fins at the condenser produces additional condensation which improves the thermal performance of the thermosyphon in terms of source wall temperature reduction at all heat inputs. The thermosyphon is tested between power levels of 50 and 275 W.
