Resumo

Hydrogels are delicate materials having potential in soft robotic applications. Mechanical characterization of hydrogel is the foremost step for possible usage. The mechanical properties of super absorbent polymer (SAP), potassium polyacrylate (PAAcK) hydrogel are time-dependent owing to the evaporation of water from the polymer structure, at a constant temperature. Here, we study the volume estimation and elastic modulus variation of PAAcK hydrogel as a function of time and percentage water content, respectively. Exponential variation in elastic modulus with decreasing percentage water content manifests adjustable elastic modulus for efficient handling and sensing of mechanical properties of the soft matter (e.g., biological cells, tissues, etc.).
