Resumo

Understanding the nature of droplet splash patterns is of crucial importance in the domains of printing, forensic science, and paper microfluidics. Stemming from the fundamental problem of droplet impact, it can offer an in-depth understanding of the liquid-solid interaction. Despite several studies on the impact and subsequent spreading phenomena, the physics behind the final pattern formation on commonly used surfaces still needs to be explored in detail. In the present work, we investigate the static wetting behaviour, the splashing dynamics and the subsequent pattern formation of water droplets on a porous surface (paper) and a hybrid (paper with printed patches) surface. It is observed that the printed surface acts like a more absorbing surface and subsequently a reduced water contact angle, which decreases over time.
