Resumo

The present work demarcates an experimental analysis of a corrugated gaskated plate heat exchanger (PHE) using different liquid-liquid heat transfer duties such as: milk-water, orange juice-water and water-water. Experiments were carried out by varying three different process parameters in the PHE such as inlet temperature of the hot fluid (Thi), flow rate of the hot fluid (Vh) and flow rate of the cold fluid (Vc) by keeping the temperature of the cold fluid (Tci) as constant. In this present study, 60° chevron angle corrugated plates are used in the PHE. L27 orthogonal array system of design of experiments (DOE) has been adopted to conduct the experimental analysis. The effect of various process parameters on the performance of the PHE has been investigated for all the three fluids. Furthermore, an attempt has been made to optimize the process parameters by using the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) optimization technique, in order to maximize the rate of heat transfer and to minimize the pressure drop.
