Thermal Modelling of Loop Heat Pipe for Long Duration Space Missions
Resumo
Loop Heat Pipe (LHP) based thermal management systems is proposed for thermal control of experimental setups and associated avionic packages aboard upper stage of a launch vehicle. A general design procedure for LHP is presented, for maximum expected power dissipation levels, radiator panel temperature and temperature constraints on the evaporator. As a first step towards realizing a customized LHP based system, a steady-state thermal model of flat evaporator LHP is developed and validated. Results for various working fluids are compared.
