Аннотация

The thermal contact conductance (TCC) between the metallic contacts plays a critical role in the thermal management of spacecraft. In view of the extensive usage of Aluminium alloys in space crafts as well as in cryogenic engineering applications, the present article provides an experimental methodology of TCC estimation between the aluminium contacts at low temperature in vacuum. The detailed description of the low temperature steady state experimental facility developed for the TCC estimation is presented. The low temperature of the order 90 K has been achieved using closed loop GM cryocooler. The influence of load on the TCC has been studied in the loading range 0.5 to 12 MPa. The TCC increases with the load and it has a cubic polynomial relation with the load. The facility closely recreates the cryogen free conduction cooling environment of spacecraft electronics.
