Аннотация

In the study, synthetic ketonic polymers were prepared from self-polymerization reaction of cyclohexanone in a high pressure batch reactor for paint and coating applications. The thermal stability and degradation characteristics of the in-house developed polymeric materials were studied using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The non-isothermal TGA analysis was carried out within the temperature range of 30-600 °C at multiple heating rates in presence of nitrogen as well as air atmospheres. The polymers were thermally stable up to a temperature of 200 °C in both nitrogen and air atmospheres. The activation energy (Ea) of thermal decomposition was estimated using TGA data with the help of Madhusudhanan-Krishnan-Ninan (M-K-N) method. The estimated apparent activation of the in-house developed polymeric materials was in the range of 32-43 and 22-32 kJ mol-1 in nitrogen and air atmospheres respectively for a first order decomposition reaction.
