The present work examines an experimental investigation of
thermo-hydraulic performance in Parabolic Trough Collector
(PTC) with twisted tape (TT) inserts in the absorber tube for
different twist ratios (4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5 and 9.5). The
experiment is conducted using water as the heat transfer fluid
and the Reynolds number ranges from 2210.667 to
4486.996. Nusselt number, friction factor, pressure drop,
and instantaneous efficiency for the absorber tube with TT
inserts are found comparatively higher than the same results
obtained from the plain absorber tube one. To measure the
influence of twisted tape on heat transfer enhancement and
pressure drop increment, the empirical correlations for the
Nusselt number and friction factor have been developed
within the above-said range of Reynolds number.
