摘要

The operation and mechanism of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems play a significant role in reducing the risk of transmission through dilution and removal of infectious particles from the indoor environment and providing better thermal comfort and indoor air quality. The intention of this study mainly focuses on the aerosol particle trajectory, carbon dioxide (CO2) and thermal comfort indices in case A: Split air conditioning (AC) and case B: Dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) assisted with ceiling fan. The computational analysis has been carried out on finite volume steady-state conditions using ANSYS fluent. The CO2 distribution and PMV-PPD of an indoor environment have been explored in both cases with the identical heat load. The aerosol particle trajectory is compared for two different cases with a discrete phase model. For case A, the PMV-PPD result is better than case B with the same comfort condition. In contrast, the energy consumption is less in case B. Afterwards, the DOAS system provides better air movement around the occupants and acceptable indoor air quality in the room. In an air-conditioned environment, ceiling fans can lower the risk of cross-infection.
