摘要

The main objectives of this article tend to achieve a better understanding of fluid flow and air entrainment around a partially submerged horizontal rotating solid roller across the gas-liquid interface. This study takes into account a wide range of submergence ratios (S/D=0.25 to 1) and three distinct fluid pairs (air-water, air-lubricating oil, and air-transformer oil). For this analysis, we have employed Gerris, an open-source code that anticipates the interface configuration using the volume of fluid (VOF) approach. The transient structure of the horizontal stratified interface is to be assessed in both advancing and receding ends because of the clockwise rotation of the solid horizontal roller. For a wide range of roller rotations, the current study deals with an extensive numerical analysis to anticipate the encapsulation of liquid film near the roller and entrainment of gaseous cusp-shaped filament in the advancing end.
