摘要

A one-dimensional transient model of downdraft biomass gasifier has been used for the simulation of a small-scale gasifier for prediction of gas composition. The model developed earlier using 13 reactions including drying and pyrolysis considered only water gas shift reaction as reversible. This model predicted a very low methane content in producer gas as compared to experimentally observed values. In this work, three sets of modifications have been tried in the model to study their effect on methane percentage: (i) considering all reduction reactions and CO oxidation as reversible; (ii) considering an alternative kinetic expression for methane formation, making it a second order reaction with respect to hydrogen (iii) sensitivity analysis by varying pre-exponential factor and activation energy of three reactions involving methane by ± 10%. The first two modifications did not lead to any significant change in the predicted methane percentage. Only increase in activation energy for methane reformation reaction resulted in substantial increase in methane prediction, taking it close to the experimental value.
