摘要

A numerical study on the evaporation of water spray droplets from the pressure swirl atomizer in the spray dryer is presented. The effect of carrier gas temperature and inlet temperature in the counter-flow spray dryer for fixed mass flow rate, pressure and relative velocity between hot air and water droplets to the spray dryer is studied. The simulations are carried out using DPM Approach by considering dispersed water spray droplets to be axisymmetric swirl. The coupled model used in this DPM study is the Eulerian approach for continuous phase (hot air) and the Lagrangian approach for discrete phase (water droplets). Among the spray of droplets, a random droplet has been considered for the heat transfer analysis. The results are compared with the ideal droplet evaporation law (D2 Law). Three different carrier gas inlet temperature 310, 360, 410 and 460°C and inlet feed temperature 25, 50, 75 and 90°C are used in the study. The numerical results showed that the increase in temperature affects the Ohnesorge number, which indicates the quality of atomization, which leads to a shorter evaporation time, increased evaporation rate and good atomization. This study enables understanding other fluids' evaporation nature during spray drying.
