Numerical simulations of incompressible flows are challenging because of the unavailability of a separate equation for pressure. Conventional methods that involve solving the pressure Poisson equation like SIMPLE, projection methods, etc., as well as the artificial compressibility method (ACM) that requires dual timestepping are found to be expensive. A novel ACM based single time-stepping method, called as the general pressure equation (GPE), is used to develop an incompressible flow solver on collocated grids. The consequent pressure oscillations are annihilated by using an approximate
Riemann solver, called as the HLL-C to discretise the convective terms.
