A STUDY ON TWO-PHASE PRESSURE DROP IN ONCE THROUGH STEAM GENERATOR USED IN SFR
摘要
Waterside flow instability is an undesired phenomenon occurring, under certain circumstances, in sodium heated steam generators used in sodium-cooled fast reactors (SFR). A reliable prediction of two-phase pressure drop is essential to
assess the risk of flow instability and establish a stable
operating regime in terms of operating parameters. Towards
this, experiments have been conducted at Indira Gandhi Centre
for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, India, to investigate the two-phase pressure drop over a wide range of water mass flux values. The measured two-phase pressure drop data are compared with the data obtained using available empirical correlations. The relative importance of acceleration, gravity, and frictional components of two-phase pressure drop is studied for vertical upward flow. It is seen that the acceleration component of pressure drop is insignificant, whereas the frictional component is mainly controlling the two-phase pressure drop. Based on the measured data, a correlation has been proposed for predicting the two-phase flow frictional multiplier, closely matching the experimental data.
