In this study, the rewetting behavior of heated horizontal
stainless steel tubes of 19.05 mm OD, 1 mm thick by an airatomizing water spray was experimentally investigated. Tests
were performed at fixed air-water inlet pressure and the variable tube initial surface temperature range 600 °C - 1000 °C. The rewetting/wetting velocity in the tube's peripheral direction was estimated using a high-speed camera and thermocouples. It has been found the increasing initial temperature of the tube surface, the rewetting velocity decreases from 16 mm/s to 6 mm/s.
