摘要

Experimental studies on 'wet biomass gasification' in a packed bed counter-current configuration are described in this paper. The primary focus is on flame propagation rate, H2 yield, and CO yield. Wood chips with (as received 12.5% moisture), 29, 39 and 49% moisture were used in the experiments. Using these biomass, two different sets of experiments were conducted – with 31.3% to 42% oxygen (by mass, rest CO2). The choice of moisture content and oxygen fraction are such that steady flame propagation is established. The results indicate that H2 yield varies from 10-21.2 g/kg biomass and attained maximum at a 'volatiles' equivalence ratio of ~1.2. The maximum hydrogen yield is about 60% higher compared to the baseline air case. The general behavior of increase in H2 and CO yield as the operating point is changed from rich towards volatiles stoichiometry followed by a decrease on the lean side is observed here also as in the previous study. Maximum cold gas efficiency observed is 52%.
