摘要

This study presents the heat transfer and fluid flow characteristics for different geometric shapes (circular, square and rhombic) of receiver tube with and without insert. Nylon flow divider insert have been used as inserts. Numerical analysis using CFD is performed for different geometric shape of receiver tube with and without insert to study the flow characteristics. The fluid flow and heat transfer phenomenon through a 3-d receiver tube with constant heat input are obtained by solving the fundamental governing equations. The heat transfer and pressure drop are calculated for different flow rates using ANSYS FLUENT software. The results of the numerical analysis are validated with the experiments carried out with the receiver tube of three different geometrical shapes (circular, square and rhombic) with and without inserts. The experiments are conducted in the Reynolds number range 2100 ≤ Re ≤ 10600. The experimental results are evaluated in the terms of performance matrices by direct measurement of fluid temperature and surface temperature in the receiver tube. It was observed that fluid flow rate with 120 kg/hr. has shown higher temperature difference for constant heat input.
