Prandtl-number effects and correlation for axisymmetric jet impinging on flat surface

The Prandtl number influences the heat transfer characteristics significantly in jet impinging cooling. In this study, four fluids with distinct Prandtl numbers (Pr) are selected to investigate their impact on impinging cooling within the Reynolds number (Re) range of 4000 to 20000. The two dimensional numerical study has been carried out using nonuniform structured mesh. To capture the turbulence characteristics, SST k-ω turbulence model is employed. ANSYS Fluent software is used for solving flow and energy equations. The results are predicted in form of local Nusselt number variation with respect to radial distance and average Nusselt number variation due to varying Prandtl number. Correlation has been developed for Nusselt number as a function of Re and Pr.
