Influence of Local Thermal Non-Equilibrium on Forced Convection Heat Transfer in a Duct Packed with Porous Medium: Iso-thermal Walls

The present analysis investigates enhancement in the local Nusselt number under the local thermal non-equilibrium (LTNE) condition in the presence of a magnetic field in a duct packed with the porous medium. To describe the unidirectional flow within the porous region, the Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer model is employed. Numerical solutions are obtained for the governing equations subjected to constant wall temperature. It is observed that the temperature in the solid phase is lower than in the fluid phase. The onset of fully developed thermal field condition is established. Local Nusselt number increases with an increase in Hartmann number. The presence of the LTNE situation may be attributed to low values of the thermal conductivity ratio and the Biot number.
