Abstract

A novel modeled internally-cooled liquid desiccant dehumidification system is presented. The dehumidifier is a core component in liquid desiccant air-conditioning system. Liquid desiccant A/C systems is cost-effective, eco-friendly and energy efficient as low-quality grade energy used in regeneration. Channels for simultaneous internally-cooling dehumidification falling film type made of copper and polycarbonate sheet covered by wick surface cotton cloth stacked structure is used. A single stratified storage tank of aqueous CaCl2 is used. A 40% by mass of CaCl2 with a flow rate of air/solution 1.25g-sec/60g/sec. are used. The reduction of relative humidity and its effectiveness of dehumidifier were evaluated to indicate performance. The experimental result conducted for 2hrs, shows the maximum relative humidity (RH %) reduction of 19.7% at steady state. It is found that the COP of system and COP of electrical obtained 3.353 and 8.484 respectively. The dehumidifier humidity and temperature effectiveness maximum value of 0.577 and 0.495 are seen. The liquid desiccant internally-cooled dehumidification for A/C is promising as of low regeneration temperature 50 °C-60 °C induced. Besides the single stratified storage tank used as for storing diluted and concentrated desiccant, it also sored energy for sensible heating in cold weather.
