要約

Recent advancements of various sophisticated technologies in the field of medical sciences, military applications, space exploration, particle physics, etc. have upraised the demands for compact devices that can generate and maintain very low temperatures. To meet these demands, cryocoolers are playing an unmatchable role among which GM (Gifford-McMahon)-Type Pulse Tube Refrigerators (PTR) are predominantly used since they have high reliability which is comparatively more than the other cryocoolers. In the present work, a transient numerical study on a 3D single stage GM-Type PTR has been conducted by considering Helium as the working fluid with a target of achieving the cold-end-temperature required for HTc-superconductors (~75 K). A porous media of stainless steel has been used for the regenerator in the PTR. A temperature of 63.4 K has been found at the cold-end of PTR without applying any heat load. Simulations are also made by considering a heat load of 10 W/m2, 50 W/m2 and 200 W/m2 at the Cold Heat Exchanger (CHX) and the corresponding cold end temperature has been found as 84 K, 111 K, and 142 K, respectively.
