要約

In this article the selection of technology which used to reduce the thermal losses which are arises in lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. Recently electric vehicles are come into market and in that vehicles Lithium-ion batteries are commonly used because it has high specific energy and high energy density. The performance and service life of Li-ion battery solely depends on operating temperature. The higher operating temperature decreases service life and performance of battery. But li-ion batteries have heat losses, due to over-voltage and under-voltage it undergoes with thermal runaway etc. To avoid these issues there are many techniques discovered like air cooling and heating, liquid cooling and heating, Phase change material, refrigerant cooling, heat pipe etc. From literature it is found that the use of combined heat pipe and phase change material (PCM) gives more effective results over these losses. This work reports a numerical methodology and simulation of melting and solidification of phase change material to reduce temperature issues. Simulation have been performed using ANSYS Fluent 18.0 software and obtained various contours and vectors for temperature, pressure, velocity, and mass fraction contours.
