要約

The present work numerically investigates the combine effect of both CEG and metal foam to overcome the an-isotropic behaviour of CEG based composite PCM. At present, 10 % to 30 % of CEG by mass is used in PCM to enhance the thermo-physical properties of system. For the present study, the overall volume of PCM in the system is kept constant at 85% by volume whereas fraction of remaining volume is split among both the CEG and metal foam (copper metal foam). The composite is formed by embedding paraffin as PCM in a rectangular foam system. The foam system is prepared by stacking copper metal foam and CEG placed one upon another in proportion by volume. The PCM composite, initially in solid phase, is subjected to a constant heat flux at top, while the other sides are kept adiabatic. The melt fraction and temperature distribution during melting process by varying the metal foam by volume concentration in the composite PCM is analysed numerically and is discussed subsequently in this paper.
