要約

Nanofluids promise the enhancement in heat transfer performance of conventional base fluids due to the suspension of nanometre-sized high thermal conductivity solid particles in the base fluid. The class of fluids that have the potential to enhance the thermo-hydraulic performance of base fluid more than that of single component suspension are called Hybrid nanofluids. This increase in the performance of Hybrid nanofluids over single component suspensions is achieved due to trade off between favourable properties of the combined effect of nanoparticles suspended in the base fluid. In the present study the heat transfer performance of Hybrid (50% by volume of Fe3O4 + 50% by volume of SiC suspended in Distilled water) nanofluid is experimentally investigated. The experiments are performed in a U-bend concentric counter flow heat exchanger at 45°C operating temperature under turbulent flow conditions, for the low particle concentrations ranging from 0.02 to 0.08 vol%. The obtained results of hybrid nanofluids are compared with the single component counterparts. It is observed from the investigations that the average enhancement in the heat transfer coefficient of the hybrid nanofluid heat transfer coefficient is 1.25 times higher than SiC/DW and 1.683 times higher than Fe3O4/DW nanofluids under the same operating conditions. The pumping power required for the hybrid nanofluids is intermediate between SiC and Fe3O4 nanofluids.
