要約

The present study addresses the detailed physical understanding of fluid flow and gas entrainment around a partially submerged horizontal rotating roller within a liquid pool with an additional effect of horizontal cross-flow of the gaseous phase. A wide range of submergence ratios (S/D=0.25 to 1) and two different fluid pairs (air-lubricating oil and air-transformer oil) are considered for this present investigation. Perturbation of the horizontal stratified interface is to be estimated in both advancing and receding junctions due to clockwise rotation of roller with steady free flow of gaseous phase. The influence of Reflow and ω on the liquid flow pattern around the roller is analysed in detail for different gas-liquid pairs and various submergence ratios. Moreover, the variation of length, thickness, and depth of air-entrained filament in the advancing zone of the roller is well predicted from the numerical simulations for the different combined effects of Reflow and ω.
