要約

Flow over perforated bluff bodies are characterised by interaction between "bleed" flow from the holes and the shear layers. Here, the "bleed" flow pushes the shear layer roll-up farther downstream. In the current study, the effect of change in orientation of holes on the wake dynamics of perforated plate placed normal to the flow stream at Reynolds number 250 is examined. Two cases of square and diamond shaped orientations with a porosity of 9% is considered. Here, porosity is defined as the ratio of open area to total plate area. It is observed that the stabilizing effect of perforations is reduced from square hole to diamond hole case due to variable cross section of the perforation in the span-wise direction.
