要約

The paper presents the effect of ignition temperature and radiation on soot growth of a turbulent diffusion flame using methane as fuel. The mixture is ignited with different temperature computationally by initializing the inlet air with a higher temperature. From the study it has been observed that with lower temperature ignition (1200 K), it takes relatively longer time to starts the reaction, also with the same initialization condition, the flame takes relatively longer time to become stable. It is also observed that, the effect of initialization temperature has less significance on steady state flame temperature. The soot peak for different time is observed in the axial position where mixture fraction (ξ) is found around 0.14 along the axis. When radiation is considered, the peak axial temperatures decrease with increase in time, whereas without considering radiation, the peak axial temperatures are almost constant with increase in time. That confirms the role of radiation. Moreover, without considering radiation, the corresponding soot volume fraction at different time is always at higher value as compared to the case considering radiation due to higher flame temperature in this case.
