要約

Presentwork is focused on experimental, CFDand analytical study of natural convection heat transfer in the pin-fin apparatus. Fins have found their place in the heat transfer applications by increasing the surface area enhances the heat transfer. It is generally placed in the fluid side which has lesser heat transfer coefficient to enhance the system performance. Fins can be used in both forced and natural convection environments. In this study, fin-pin analysis is carried out under natural convection heat transfer mode. Experiment is performed in the pin-fin apparatus. Pin-fin performance is evaluated by both unsteady and steady operating conditions. In the unsteady analysis variation of temperature with respect to time is noted. Also, pin-fin is modelled using Ansys modeller. CFD results are validated with the experimental data. Also the analytical results of pin-fin are compared with the CFD results. In the steady state analysis it is found that the heat transfer coefficient is increases with the heat input. But the efficiency of pin-fin decreases with the heat input.
