Resumo

In the present paper, a numerical investigation has been carried out to study the heat transfer and entropy generation characteristics past a blunt-headed cylinder in crossflow at incidence. Employing air (Pr = 0.71) as an operating fluid, calculations are carried out at Reynolds numbers (Re) of 40 ≤ Re ≤ 160. The angle of incidence is varied as 0° ≤ α ≤ 180°. Heat transfer characteristics are studied by computing local and time averaged values of Nusselt numbers. An entropy generation analysis is carried out to study the effects of Re and angle of incidence toward realizing the energy efficient thermofluidic transport characteristics. The frictional and heat transfer entropy increase with an increase in Re for a constant angle of incidence.
