Computational Investigation of Airfoil noise in a turbulent regime
Resumo
In this paper NACA0012 airfoil aerodynamics and airfoil trailing edge noise characteristics was studied using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) / Ffowcs Williams−Hawkings (FW−H) method in the present work. The flow field is computed using detached eddy simulation (DES). Structural mesh feature is utilized to generate the grid which notably reduces the size of a model and its computational complexity. The study is carried out at Reynolds number 6×106 at different angles of attack. Numerical results are validated for aerodynamic experimental data. DES can capture the nonlinear aerodynamic noise more accurately with lower grid requirements. The spectral results show that different peaks were observed in the low frequency region and exhibits low frequency characteristics.
