Resumo

Impingement of coolant jet on the hot surface having a faster cooling rate and literature had work on impingement of air jet compare to impingement of water jet. The heat transfer characteristics are obtained for the uniformly heated curved surface with the impingement of water. A constant heat flux is defined for the uniform heating of the plate and test specimen is curved surface with 42mm diameter. The diameter of the jet impingement is 6 mm. The simulation is carried out using CFD base analysis using Ansys (fluent) software. In this paper, the Nusselt number are compared on different flow rates (Reynolds number) and it range from 11160 to 29760. Comparison of heat transfer characteristics between the flat plate and the curved plate also had done with the help of simulation. Present results revealed that increase in the Reynolds number leads the increment in the heat transfer characteristics and Nusselt number also increases. The heat transfer characteristics of flat plate with the curvature plate results showed Nusselt number at the point of jet stagnation is higher for the curved plate case but away from the stagnation point flat plate having the higher Nusselt number compare to the curved surface. But overall distribution of the Nusselt number is uniform for the flat plate case.
