Resumo

The paper describes the thermal design and analysis of Conical scanning earth sensor (MCSES) and its bracket. The temperature of the earth sensor is affected by external loads, deep space temperature and internal heat dissipation. As the components in the sensor need to be maintained within their desirable temperature specifications throughout its mission life, a suitable thermal control scheme has to be evolved. The main objective of this paper is to design the radiator for this sensor considering all the mission requirements. The influence of external loads on the various surfaces of the sensor was investigated by orbital analysis. Suitable radiator surfaces were identified and area arrived at to maintain the sensor within its allowable temperatures for the hot scenarios in the orbit.
