Resumo

Despite rapid advancement in air conditioning systems, development of a highly efficient air conditioning system inside vehicle cabin remains a major challenge for the researchers. One of the methods to increase the thermal comfort inside vehicle cabin is to considerably reduce the temperature inside the cabin. In the present work, an attempt is made to bring down the temperature inside the vehicle cabin with the help of a phase change material which reduces the heat absorbed by the surface. Effect of PCM layer thickness and the melting temperature is analyzed. Temperature Vs time plots are shown for all the considered cases and optimum values are indicated. For this purpose, numerical simulations are carried out using a commercial software Ansys − Fluent.
